In America today, not every family can afford to have only one person working outside the home. This means that a few months after a woman gives birth, she often has to go back to work. The family will then hire a nanny or babysitter to take care of their new baby. It can take quite a long time to find a good babysitter. Many parents begin looking for a skilled nanny long before their child is born. They may prospective candidates at colleges and medical schools, at their workplaces, in local newspapers in which babysitters/nannies place their own advertisements or through employment agencies, by asking their friends and relatives.
Every family has its own priorities in choosing someone to care for their child. They may want a nanny who is of a certain age with specialized medical or education training documented by a degree or certificate. Has work experience with young children and babies. Has reference with young children and babies. Has a pleasant, attentive and good natured personality and charges reasonable amount for her services.
